Duo Security is the new multi factor authentication service that provides additional security for access to institutional and personal data. This secondary authority security protocol is required to access much of your University and System information. This software requires you to answer a call, text, or other message to prove your identity.

Multifactor authentication (MFA), sometimes referred to as two-step or two-factor authentication, is an overly technical-sounding term for a very simple solution. Think of it as “password plus.” It operates on the assumption that just because someone knows your password, that doesn’t necessarily mean they are who they claim to be. It is an easy way to make sure that the only one using your credentials is you.

DUO settings for your account can be managed in following steps:

Navigate to https://myaccount.sc.edu/iam/ in a web browser
Select ‘Update Account Settings’
Authenticate using your USC userID and password
Select the ‘Multi-factor’ tab on the top
Verify, change, or validate the associated phone number for your account
