OER Faculty Grant Program
Purpose: The OER Faculty Grant Program is intended to recognize and support faculty projects that go beyond the adoption of open textbooks and the necessary course revisions that accompany such an adoption. Eligible projects will fall under one or more of the following categories:
- The creation of ancillary, supplemental or primary course materials in any format, to be issued under a Creative Commons license.
- Extensive revision and updating of open educational resources.
- Making OERs accessible.
- Remixing OERs, including contributing original material, to customize for a particular course.
- Extensive collection, adaptation and curation of OERs, library subscription resources, and other affordable resources to use as replacements for a textbook in a course.
- Revising teaching and learning materials to include open, transformative and inclusive pedagogies.
Awards of $500, $1000, $1500 or $2000 will be made depending on the scope and complexity of the project. Materials adapted or remixed from existing OER should respect any limitations of the original license. Faculty are encouraged to place materials in the OER section of the USC system's Scholar Commons repository.
