Plagiarism Prevention

Design by USC Upstate Library

Welcome to the Plagiarism tutorial! After completing this tutorial, you will be able to:

  • Recognize the difference between accidental and malicious plagiarism.
  • Identify strategies to avoid plagiarism in your own writing.

This tutorial uses MLA for its citation examples, but all the ideas in the tutorial apply to other citation styles as well.

After the tutorial, there will be a brief quiz. If you are completing the tutorial for a class, you will receive a Certificate of Completion at the end of the tutorial. Follow your instructor's directions for submitting the certificate to earn class credit.

This tutorial must be completed in one sitting and works best in the Google Chrome browser.

Please use the "Previous" and "Next" buttons below to go back or advance.

Let's get started!

*This tutorial is based upon Amber Pierdinock's Plagiarism Tutorial for the Spartanburg Community College library*
