TIPS

• Place keywords in quotation marks to search for an exact phrase.
  Example: "south carolina"
• Boolean operators (use capital letters):
  • AND - all terms must be found; narrows a search
    Example: television AND violence
  • OR - any of the terms may be found; expands a search
    Example: "mass media" OR television
  • NOT - excludes the terms
    Example: mexico NOT "new mexico"
• Use an asterisk (*) to search for different variations or spellings of a word.
  Example: teen* - teen, teens, teenage, teenager, teenagers, etc.

Other academic libraries in South Carolina may have books on your topic. These books can be requested and sent to USC Upstate via PASCAL.

In addition to PASCAL, the USC Upstate Library can obtain books from across the United States and often times, worldwide. Use WorldCat to search for books in libraries outside South Carolina. 

If you locate a book you would like, use Interlibrary Loan to request the book. Please plan ahead if you use Interlibrary Loan. Allow 7-10 business days. You will receive an e-mail once books are ready to be picked-up.
