Public Administration: an overview

Public administration is the implementation of government policy, as well as an academic discipline studying this implementation and preparing students to be capable civil servants in their communities.  A primary objective of public administration is to work towards a better-functioning government, creating policies that serve the everyday needs of citizens.  Public administration is multi-disciplinary in nature, and one view of the discipline divides the field into six sub-fields of focus: human resourcesorganizational theorypolicy analysisstatisticsbudgeting, and ethics.
