Find Books option provides one-stop searching for books and e-books, journal articles, DVDs, and more.  The search box in the widget above allows you to directly search for materials found in what was previously called the Library Catalog.

Library of Congress Subject Heading

                                                                                          used in the library catalog, were designed to address the choices between variant spellings of the same idea (colour vs color), scientific and popular terms (Perplaneta American vs cockroaches) and synonyms (cars vs automobiles).  The best way to find specific Subject terms is by starting with a keyword search and use the results to find what controlled vocabulary the database uses for your topic,

E & F – History of the Americas

G – Geography

H – Social Sciences

J Political Science

The Library of Congress uses Social Sciences as the Subject words for Social Studies

Social studies -- See Social sciences

The Library of Congress uses the more specific subjects breaks down Social Sciences and can be found in the H area of the collection.  History has it's own area as does Government.
