Library of Congress - Digital Collections: Down South

A guide for the Library of Congress Digital Collections

Civil War

In this collection, history enthusiasts and students can access a wealth of information and are all primary sources. For example, if you wanted to see photographs of Civil War battlefields, particular generals from both armies, or perhaps see a glimpse of what life was like during the 1860's, the Civil War database in the Digital Collections is a great place to start.

Another collection to examine is the Abraham Lincoln Papers. It contains photographs of Lincoln throughout his life and also has many papers and letters he penned. If you were looking for the famed Bixby Letter or the Gettysburg Address, this is the place to start.
