Appalachia is a place, a region of the Eastern United State that follows the Appalachian Mountains but it is also a culture unique to its own borders. The Appalachian Mountains stretch from Alabama to Newfoundland Canada but the cultural region typically refers to the central and southern portions of the range, to include West Virginia, and the mountainous portions of Virginia, Tennessee, South Carolina, North Carolina, Georgia and Alabama.
