SearchUp is Coming! JUNE 2020

USC Upstate community, meet your powerful new research assistant.

The USC Upstate Library is transitioning to a new combined library catalog and article searching tool in June 2020.

What does this mean for faculty and students?

  • You will be able to search everything--books, journals, articles, and more--all from one single search box (advanced search filtering available).
  • ‚ÄčIt will be easier to find the resources you need, including materials from academic libraries around the state.
  • Our database A to Z list will still be a standalone search option.

Why are we doing this?

  • Most importantly, this project is an opportunity to provide better service to you.
  • The migration is a project of the Partnership Among South Carolina Academic Libraries (PASCAL), and is supported by lottery funds.
  • A single, shared system presents substantial cost-saving and unmatched opportunities for collaboration among PASCAL institutions.
  • Greatly improved functionality for Library staff--the software we have been using has not been actively developed in more than a decade.

More Information

The Upstate Library will be utilizing Alma/Primo VE, a product of Ex Libris (a ProQuest Company).

Alma is the back-end product, while the front-facing discovery system is known as Primo VE.

Our instance of Primo VE is branded as SearchUp.
