ENGL U101-033 L. McDowell

Improving Your Web Searching

Academic writing tends to rely most heavily on scholarly books and articles, although it may draw on a broader range of sources. Many scholarly resources, such as e-books, library catalogs and subscription databases, are accessed through the World Wide Web. In addition, there are many useful websites and resources to be found on the open Web, although you will want to evaluate what you find carefully and use such sources sparingly. Government and news sites can be particularly useful sources of information. You may feel that you are used to searching Google, but this page has some useful tips on improving your searches.
