"To be information literate, a person must be able to recognize when information is needed and have the ability to locate, evaluate, and use effectively the needed information."
American Library Association, Presidential Committee on Information Literacy Final Report, 1989
The USC Upstate Library presents three awards each year: two to undergraduate students who demonstrate a superior grasp of information literacy in a major project they have completed within the past year, and one member of the faculty or teaching academic staff who has shown a commitment to promoting information literacy among students and faculty at Upstate. Each of the three awards includes a cash award. For detailed information on eligibility, criteria, and the application process for each award, refer to the tabs on this guide.
