The purpose of this assignment is for you to work on focusing our research topic and learning about different sources.
We selected the broad topic of college students and the environment. The next step is to do some background reading on the topic and begin to identify an angle, or question, related to the theme that is of interest to you.
Read through these sources. Don’t worry about reading every word. Read selectively to get a general idea of what kind of source it is and what kind of information it offers.
Find this article in the library: Shepherd, K. et al. 2014. “Is the environmental literacy of university students measurable?” Environmental Education Research, Vol. 20, No. 4, 476–495.
Write up a brief description of each source – what’s in it, how is it organized, and what type of source is it? What did you learn about college students and the environment from them?
Write up your answers and bring to class for discussion.
